Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to help you make positive changes. I combine hypnosis with a range of therapies to produce a powerful combination of tools to help you overcome your difficulties and achieve your goals.
To understand how hypnotherapy works you have to appreciate that your mind has many levels of awareness. Some things are in your awareness right now – for example, you know you are reading this page. Other things may not be in your awareness now but could easily be brought to your attention – for example, the feeling in your left foot. However, some things are much harder to bring to your conscious awareness – for example, what you were doing on 26 February 1993. It is often the thoughts, feelings and beliefs that are outside your everyday awareness that cause behavioural and psychological difficulties. Unwanted habits, irrational fears or complex distressing emotions may seem to occur ‘all on their own’ and arise ‘from nowhere’. But of course they don’t; they arise from parts of your mind that are outside your everyday awareness – your unconscious mind. The object of hypnotherapy is to address the underlying cause of your difficulty at the appropriate level of mind. It is very much an interactive therapy – I do not dictate solutions to you; I am better viewed as a skilled guide helping you to identify your own solutions and resources. What is the next step?
